banana's fruity adventure

One sunny day, Banana was playing in the backyard. She heard her neighbor, Mr. Lemon, mumbling and grumbling next door. He was in a sour mood. Banana wondered what was wrong. She decided to ask her dad, Mr. Plantain, what she could do to help.

“Dad, Mr. Lemon is in a sour mood. What do you think would cheer him up?” Banana asked.
“Well, maybe you could give him some lemonade,” said Mr. Plantain, “He once told me it’s his most favorite thing.”
“Do you know how to make lemonade?” she asked.
“No, but maybe you could ask Mrs. Pineapple. After all, she is the best cook in the whole village,” said Mr. Plantain

So Banana walked to Mrs. Pineapple’s house and knocked on the door, excited to find out what the recipe was.

“Hi, Mrs. Pineapple! I was wondering if you know how to make lemonade?” Banana asked.
“Hmmm,” said Mrs. Pineapple, “I can’t remember it, Banana. The only thing I remember is that it has sugar in it. Here, I’ll give you a little in case it’s helpful later.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Pineapple!” Banana said.

Mrs. Pineapple said, “Maybe you should ask the Kumquats if they know the recipe. After all, they’re the nosiest in the whole village.”

So Banana walked to the park, where the Kumquats were playing, excited to find out what the recipe was.

The Kumquats started asking a million questions, “What’s up? What are you doing? Who are you looking for? What do you want? What do you have there? Why are you here?”
Banana asked them, “I was wondering if any of you know how to make lemonade?”

he Kumquats asked each other, and then said, “No, but we remember it has water in it. We’ll give you some in case it’s helpful later.”

“Thank you, Kumquats!” Banana said. Before Banana left, the Kumquats said, “Maybe you should ask the Crazy Coconut if he knows the recipe. After all, he is Mr. Lemon’s best friend in the whole village.

So Banana walked to the grove, where the Crazy Coconut was hanging from a tree, excited to find out what the recipe was.
“Hi, Mr. Coconut, I was wondering if you know how to make lemonade?” Banana asked.
The Crazy Coconut stared at her for a while, without saying a word.
And then, out of nowhere, he jumped out of the tree and said, “Yes! Come with me!”

They walked past the Kumquats in the park, past Mrs. Pineapple in her house, past Mr. Plantain in Banana’s house, until they finally got to Mr. Lemon’s house.

“What are you two doing here?” said Mr. Lemon, still in a sour mood.
“The secret ingredient is Mr. Lemon’s laughter. You’ll see why,” said the Crazy Coconut. He mixed the water and sugar Banana had brought in a pitcher and held it close to Mr. Lemon.
Then the Crazy Coconut said, “What do you call a sad strawberry?”
Mr. Lemon sighed, and said, “What?”
And the Crazy Coconut said, “A blueberry!”

Mr. Lemon’s face scrunched up, and then a huge laugh burst out! He laughed and laughed until tears came out. The Crazy Coconut put the pitcher he had prepared next to his face, and the tears fell inside.

Once Mr. Lemon was finished laughing, the Crazy Coconut mixed the pitcher, and said “And this, Banana, is how you make lemonade! Water, sugar, and Mr. Lemon’s tears! But they have to be of joy, they have to be of laughter.

The End.
